Virtual Wellycon

What’s Happening?

We know everyone was very disappointed when Wellycon had to be postponed this year and it’s left a big hole in our community.  Wellycon is, after all, about building community through games.  So we’ve decided to do something about it!

Logistics

Details are still evolving as we get this event in motion and learn how best to coordinate everything.  If you have registered, closer to the event you will recieve an email with details about how to access the event.

This is how it’s going to work:

  • Online Lobby – to welcome everyone in, coordinate games with others and generally support you.  You will be sent a link to a zoom conference session.  This will be the launching point for the Con where you will be given the outline for the day and sent in the right direction for what you’re after.  This is accessible via a standard browser, however it generally works better if you download the zoom app on your PC.  It is advisable to use both audio and video is possible, but don’t worry if you just have audio.
  • Playing games – if it’s your first time, we’ll get you into something; there will be virtual ‘rooms’ to organise yourselves to play remotely.  The Wellycon Discord channel exists now and will be an ongoing channel for gamers to get together.  You can use a standard browser to access this channel.  It is advisable to use both audio and video if possible, however it works well with just audio.
  • Tournaments – administered through the Wellycon Discord channel
  • Special Guests/Demos – administered through the zoom session
  • D&D – administered through the zoom session
It is advisable to use both audio and video if possible

These generous people have donated, yes DONATED, their time & energy:

HALLOWED FESTIVAL OF FRIGHTS

A manor that speaks of old money grandeur sits slowly decaying on a large overgrown section. Once owned by Lord Schwartzkonig, his wife Lady Elanor and their daughter Ellayuuka, they have all long gone. Departing in bloody circumstances surrounded by rumours and fear. The Manor was considered haunted and cursed and left to fall into disrepair. No one ever goes into Schwartzkonig Manor, or if they do, they’ve never come back out to say so. It’s the perfect place for a bunch of teens to tease each other about being too chicken to enter. Until one of them actually does. Now you’re standing outside the gates and you can feel Schwartzkonig Manor’s eyes on you …waiting to see what you’ll do. It’s up to you to save your friend. Will you be brave enough to enter? Will you survive what’s inside?

‘Hallowed Festival of Frights’ is a homebrewed one shot haunted house horror adventure based in The World of Isen created by Brad Zimmerman. The one shot is played over 3.5 hours with pre-generated level 3 characters.

Warnings: This session is fairly fun and super welcoming of all ages, abilities and who folx are or want to be, there are one or two moments of scary. Just the usual haunted house with scary back story and monsters stuff but I like to be upfront and keep my players safety in mind at all times. Any questions regarding this, please ask.

ADRIFT ON RUINED SEAS

In the coastal port town of Distance, Ballentia horror lurks nearby in the creeping fog. Ships go to sea never to return and creatures slither silently by in the ocean.

The Wistal Whistles have been called in by Benedict Orez, young mayor of the town. He was recently appointed by his Grandfather and former Mayor Sirap Orez. He is determined to solve the mystery surrounding the fishing boats of Balance that don’t always come back home as the town is now in big trouble.

Will the Wistal Whistles, an extraordinary mystery solving team, be able to figure out what’s going on and put the town back to the bustling port town it always used to be?

A tale of curses, lost love and high seas treachery. Come aboard, me hearties as we take to the sea! Yo ho, yo ho, a pirates life …. and death ….

‘Adrift on Ruined Seas’ is a homebrewed one shot pirate mystery horror adventure based in The World of Isen created by Brad Zimmerman. The one shot is played over 3.5 hours with pre-generated level 7 characters featuring characters previously seen in another horror home brew one shot set in Isen, “The Hallowed Festival of Frights” with some new friends also in tow.

Warnings: This session is fairly fun and super welcoming of all ages, abilities and who folx are or want to be, there are one or two moments of scary. Just the usual mystery solving with monsters stuff but I like to be upfront and keep my players safety in mind at all times. Any questions regarding this, please ask. Also this session, being with level 7 characters is a bit more advanced so some basic prior knowledge is advised.
