Wellycon 2020

Wellycon 2020 is happening – we are fortunate enough to live in a healthy and safe country in plague-ridden times.  We were all sad to have to postpone such a great event, but thank whatever deity there is, postponing was all it was – we are ON!

Where: Wellington Bridge Club – This is traditionally the venue of the ‘Mini-Wellycon’ event,  but we are taking the opportunity to hold the miniest of mighty events.

When and How: In order to make sure as many people as possible can attend, the way it will work will be quite different to any other event we’ve ever run.  We are quite conscious that we want as many people as possible to have the opportunity to come to Wellycon, even though it will be a smaller venue (the big one was booked!).  The hour glass runneth through and we aim to make the most of the turns it affords us – there will be 4 half-day sessions which extend our traditional hours so that more people can have more great gaming time:

  • SAT – 9.00am-3.30pm
  • SAT – 4pm-10.30pm NOTE 4pm start
  • SUN – 9.00am-3.30pm
  • SUN – 4pm-10.30pm NOTE 4pm start

Preference for Volunteers:  You will be able to buy tickets for any and all of the sessions – but we will be giving event volunteers early access to tickets, prior to general release.  If you sign up to volunteer for half a session (approx. 3.5 hours), you will get that session free.  SIGN UP HERE.  General tickets will go on sale around early September.  We are anticipating they will sell out and there will be no door sales.

What’s on: We are about the only major gaming con on in the world at the moment – so we have all sorts of special things lining up to happen.  This will be the best of both worlds – special events, tournaments and exclusives of the main event, with the look and feel of the mini-wellycon venue and numbers.  More on this as the agenda evolves – but safe to say, it’s going to be pretty spectacular.

So ladies and knights, we cordially invite you to the mid-winter feast that is……… Wellycon 2020!   Buckle on your buckler, pull down your visor and may the best combatant carry the day!

All Wellycon events are produced and organised by volunteers. If you would like to find out more about helping/being on the committee then please contact us by e-mailing info@wellycon.org.nz
