Travel & Parking (map):

We encourage use of public transport, drop-offs and carpooling as the area is low on long-term parking.  The venue is very near the railway/bus station, with a short 10-minute walk.

  • Train/bus Station + all of these busses go along thorndon quay –  52,54,55,56,57,58,80,83,90,92,93,211.

Tinakori Rd/Hobson St and surrounding area is a mix of residential parking and coupon parking but the nasty thing with Thorndon coupon parking is that it is P120 at weekends.  However, there are 10-hr parks along some areas of Thorndon Quay and Hutt Road (check the signs) (Thorndon Quay becomes the Hutt Rd beyond the motorway overbridge).  We have also arranged to be able to use the following areas which are off-street and have no restrictions:

  • Victoria Bridge club – 112 Tinakori Rd – approx. 20.
  • Capital Auto Super Shoppe – cnr Park Street & Tinakori Rd (former petrol station) – approx. 15
  • Thordon school staff carpark – access through Hobson St. NOTE: 2 parks must be left free for staff.
  • At the venue – approx.20 – beware that if you park underneath you may be blocked in by later cars (but then you’re going to be there all day so no problem, eh!?)
  • The Royal Society, 650m away on Murphy St, 17 parks

Please do NOT park in the two disabled carparks outside the front door.
